Jesse Baker, MC, RCC

Registered Clinical Counsellor, Partner

Getting to walk alongside others in the counselling journey is one of the privileges of my life. I consider it a deep honour to be trusted with someone’s story—to be invited into their healing process and to sit with them in the beautiful, messy, and meaningful parts of life.

I hold a core belief that every person is created for a purpose, and designed to live with peace, joy, and connection. No matter what someone has been through, I believe healing and freedom are possible through Jesus.

In my counselling work, I strive to create a space of genuine care, curiosity, and compassion. I offer a gentle and hopeful presence, and I seek to support each person in reclaiming the fullness of life they were made for.

My approach integrates clinically grounded, research-informed practices with a sensitivity to the movement of the Spirit. I tailor each session to your unique needs, believing that meaningful healing happens within a trusting, collaborative relationship.

  • I never imagined becoming a counselor until I gave my life to Christ in 2012, and He began leading me in that direction. At the time, it felt impossible because I was so disconnected from my emotions—I often joke that my only two “feelings” were hungry and tired. But through my journey with Christ, the support of my wife, and the encouragement of my community, I started to reconnect with my emotions and embrace who God says I am. As my inner world shifted and healed, I caught a glimpse of God’s deep love for people and found profound fulfillment in walking alongside others on their healing journey.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of British Columbia (Okanagan) and a Master’s Degree in Counselling from City University of Seattle (Vancouver).

I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with a masters degree in counselling. I have dedicated my career to journeying alongside people on their path towards healing. With over 10 years experience working in the Downtown Eastside and 5 of those years as a counsellor, I have witnessed a great deal of suffering, but also the remarkable ability of people to persevere and heal. From my experience, I have found that there is no one beyond hope or healing.  My experience includes working with youth experiencing homelessness and working as both a counsellor and counselling supervisor in a men’s addiction and recovery treatment center.

My wife and I are passionate about serving on our church’s prayer and intercessory team. We have a young son who brings us joy every day. When we’re not counselling or at church, you can often find us exploring mountains, cooking with friends, or taking long walks—sometimes by the beach.

  • Emotion Focused Therapy

Emotion-Focused Therapy helps individuals and couples process and understand their emotions to promote healing and personal growth. By increasing emotional awareness and transforming unhelpful patterns, EFT supports resilience and lasting change.

    Person-Centred Approach
I honor each person as unique and eternally valuable, recognizing that they are the true expert on themselves. Deep healing often comes from genuine listening and creating space for people to fully be themselves.

    Attachment Based Approach
I practice with the belief that we are created for connection—with both people and God. Much of our suffering arises from disconnection and unhealthy relationships. However, healing often comes through new experiences of healthy connection.

In counselling, we explore your past and present relationships, working to reshape relational patterns that foster connection, safety, and intimacy.

    Somatic Approach
Our bodies store memories that do not always correspond to our cognitive beliefs or memories. I believe that by giving the body space to “speak,” we can heal from long-standing patterns and unresolved issues. It’s often surprising what the body remembers, even when the mind has forgotten.

    Accelerated Resolution Therapy

Trauma affects every part of us—mind, body, and soul. Accelerated Resolution Therapy is a gentle yet effective trauma-focused therapy that helps individuals process and resolve distressing memories using eye movements and visualization techniques. It works by reprogramming how traumatic memories are stored in the brain, reducing their emotional impact and promoting healing.

Similar to EMDR, this therapy offers additional tools to process non-verbal traumatic memories, which are often stored in the body as sensations and emotions.

    Client-Centered

No two people are the same and there is no” one-size fits all” approach to counselling. If you choose to work with me then you will find that I aim to be warm, gentle, and curious. I also recognize that God has a plan and a hope for every person and it is my desire to partner with Him and contend for you towards that plan and hope.

Michelle Wong, MSc, (Pre-Registered)

Pre-registered Clinical Counsellor, Associate Counsellor

I'm Michelle! One of my greatest joys is journeying with another human and seeing them grow as they experience healing and restoration. I see counseling as a unique privilege to be invited into someone's pain and fears, and to accompany them in discovering new ways to more hope, self-acceptance, and joy in life. I value authenticity, compassion, and non-judgmental curiosity. I believe people can grow to their fullest potential given the right environment. Sometimes that includes having a comforting presence and an understanding heart. In counselling, I hope to journey with you to heal, grow, and come alive into the fullness of who you are. As someone who has sat in the client's seat, I understand how vulnerable it can feel to see a therapist so I'm passionate about building a safe and trusting relationship with you to unravel past burdens and explore new ways to face your challenges.

*Please Note: Michelle’s rates will be reduced while she is the process of obtaining registration. Once Michelle has full registration her rates will increase and she will be covered by most insurance plans that include counselling*

  • I was born in Canada, but grew up in Hong Kong and recently moved back to Canada. I currently hold a Master's in Counselling that focused on marriage and family therapy. Before that I worked both as a teacher in schools and on the pastoral team in the church. These avenues gave me opportunities to come alongside people of diverse ages, cultures, and backgrounds, and allowed me to discover a deep love for people. My journey into becoming a counsellor started with going up to receive prayer after service one day, to which the pastor said to me after, "The Lord wants to restore to you something that had been robbed from you. Would you like someone to walk alongside you?" Unknowingly, that was a start to meeting a wonderful Christian counsellor who began to help me unpack some hidden-away pain with both biblical truths and clinical skills. As I began to explore my healing (which continues to this day!) with the Lord and those He brought into my life, I began to find a deep interest in learning and equipping myself to help others come to greater freedom and wholeness. When I started practicing counselling as a practicum student, I was also presented with opportunities to be trained in various inner healing and prayer ministry tools, allowing me to gain a much wider perspective on the myriad of different ways God can minister his healing and reconciliation.

  • I apply clinical interventions from various approaches and am keen to keep learning, but I predominantly utilize tools from emotionally-focused therapy (EFT), cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), internal-family systems model (IFS), and acceptance-and-commitment therapy (ACT). I also use eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy (EMDR) to support clients who are looking to receive help in reprocessing traumatic experiences. I am comfortable with working across different age groups and can provide sessions in both English and Cantonese.
